Graphic Designer Rate Card: Define Branding and Social Packages

Create a graphic-design rate card with clear branding and social-media scopes. Check package economics, revisions, usage assumptions and versioned prices.

Separate services that clients may confuse

For social work, specify the number of original designs, formats and adaptations. Twelve finished graphics are not the same as twelve templates the client must populate. Caption writing, scheduling and performance reporting are additional services unless the package includes them.

For branding, identify the actual outputs: discovery, concepts, selected identity files, guidance and supporting applications. Avoid promising trademark clearance or exclusive rights in third-party fonts and assets unless the relevant services and licenses support that promise.

A scoped example card

These are invented offers and prices for an editorial example. They are not benchmarks for designers at a particular experience level.

Offer Model and example price Defined scope
Existing-design adaptation Fixed, $75 One supplied design adapted to one agreed size
Social content design pack Fixed, $900 Six original static graphics plus six specified resizes; one consolidated review round
Brand identity project From $2,400 Defined entry scope, with final quote after discovery
Campaign with motion and licensing needs Custom quote Scope and usage reviewed before pricing

Make “from” an accurate description of a real minimum scope. Do not imply that the lowest amount covers a full identity system when it covers only a narrow deliverable.

Check the social package against the work

Assume the $900 package requires six hours for original graphics, two hours for resizes, two hours for review and one hour for administration. Total project time is 11 hours. With $60 of specified direct costs, $840 remains before other business costs and tax.

$840 ÷ 11 hours = $76.36 per project hour after those direct costs.

If unplanned requests add four hours, that figure becomes $56.00. This is an illustrative capacity check, not take-home pay. The same advertised price can have very different economics when the work changes.

Use this calculation to clarify scope and assess the price. Do not quietly reduce the promised deliverables to protect a margin after the client accepts the offer.

Explain revisions and handover

Define a review round as a specific process, such as one consolidated set of comments on the agreed direction. A new concept, new copy or additional format may require another quote. Whether an extra charge is owed depends on the accepted scope and valid agreement, not the rate card alone.

Clarify which file formats and editable source files are included. Address third-party assets and usage requirements in the project agreement. A generic footer cannot transfer rights you do not own.

Use the generator for layout

The HustleNumbers rate-card generator supports service categories, pricing labels, themes and accent choices. Its prices are user-entered text. It does not calculate a bundle's total or verify that a claimed saving is real.

If you advertise a package discount, compare it with the same included services at their genuine standalone prices. Otherwise, simply state the package price. Add an effective date, contact route and a concise scope note, then inspect the saved PDF for long descriptions or extra pages.

Keep the card consistent with your sales process

Share a relevant card when a prospect needs a pricing overview, then use a project quote to confirm the actual scope and dates. There is no universal rule that sending prices before a discovery call loses clients.

Review your card when delivery time, expenses, service scope or client needs change. Track the reasons proposals succeed or fail. A high close rate alone does not prove the price is too low, and a low close rate does not identify price as the sole cause.

FAQ

Are the example design prices market averages?

No. They demonstrate how to define and check a package. Set your own prices using costs, scope, delivery time and your business context.

Should a social-media package include captions and posting?

Only if the offer explicitly includes them. Separate design production from copywriting, scheduling and management.

Does the rate-card tool calculate package discounts or usage rights?

No. You enter prices and scope text. Check the economics and address rights in the relevant agreement.
