Consulting Fee Calculator

This calculator uses a cost-plus build-up method. It starts with your equivalent salary, adds the cost of benefits (as a percentage load) and annual overhead, then applies a profit multiplier to arrive at a consulting daily rate. The hourly rate is derived from that daily rate divided by billable hours per day, adjusted for your expected utilization.

The "3× rule" is a widely-cited heuristic that consultants often use as a quick sanity check. It is not based on market data or any specific formula — it's simply a rule of thumb to see if your calculated rate is in a reasonable ballpark. All math runs locally in your browser.
